The idea came from a simple frustration. The people I cared about kept getting flattened into a feed: posts to scroll past, birthdays surfaced by an algorithm, relationships measured in likes. I wanted the opposite. A calm, private place built around the person, not the performance. I sketched it for myself long before I had the time or the means to build it, and Toldari is that idea finally made real.
What Toldari does
For each person you care about, you keep the things that are easy to forget: how you met, their interests, important dates, open follow-ups, and a log of your past catch-ups. You decide how often you’d like to stay in touch, and Toldari gives you a gentle nudge when it’s been too long. After you see someone, you note how it went and plan the next get-together. It is not a social network and not a CRM.
Privacy is the architecture, not a setting
Your people, notes, and reminders live on your device. The core app needs no account and works offline. We don’t sell or mine your data, and there’s nothing to sell, because we can’t read it.
Premium, without breaking the promise
Premium is an optional layer for the features that genuinely cost something to run each month:
- Encrypted backup and restore. Your people, notes, and plans come with you to a new phone, instead of living and dying on one device.
- Private profile sharing. Hand someone a profile safely. The share is encrypted and expires on terms you set.
- A meeting helper. Settle a time and place with a group without the back-and-forth.
- Place suggestions. Fast address autocomplete when you’re adding a plan.
Adding cloud features was the moment the privacy promise could have quietly died. It didn’t. Everything that stores your data (backups and profile shares) is end-to-end encrypted: the server holds only data it cannot read, and the keys stay with you. The meeting helper works differently, because coordination needs shared details: the server sees only the proposed times and places and who has responded, never your notes. The hard part was never the cryptography for its own sake, it was refusing to build the easy, readable version.
Pricing that respects you
Toldari is free to download, and for 14 days you have the full core app. After that, Standard is a one-time $4.99 purchase: the complete experience, genuinely yours forever, not a subscription. If you decide not to buy, your data is never held hostage. Everything you added stays visible on your device and export is always free. Premium is $5.99 a month, or $49.99 a year (about $4.17 a month, over 30% less), with a 7-day free trial.
